I tested the Column Block for Heather Ann Dye Art. It was such a fun quilt block to make. It seriously was! I intended to only make one. But after I made one, I thought - I'll make enough for a throw - these are fun and quick to make. Then as I was almost finished making the first 4 blocks and thought - these would make a great King size quilt - and here we are. See all my blocks below.
I posted about my blocks on Minerva. I used scraps from several different projects I did for them in this quilt. Below are photos of my finished quilt on my bed. I took it to the long armer for quilting and then all I had to do was add the binding.
My blocks are laid out a little different than what Heather included in her pattern. I added a border only between the column and not the rows.
The background is chambray from 2 different projects and the blocks are made of various scraps. I really love how it came out. I added a 6 inch border to my quilt top to make this quilt about 108 inches wide. My last King quilt was too narrow - I'll still use it, but it's nice to have a second one now.
I'm currently using this quilt, but thinking I might save it for fall and winter when I definitely don't want to get uncovered by my cover hogging husband.
Be sure to check out Heather's Column Block pattern for a quick project. The blocks are super sized and make for a nice wall hanging or just a few make a quilt.
