Bow Button Fabrics

I absolutely love bamboo french terry. So when I saw Bow Button Fabrics had a sewist call for some, I just had to apply. This bamboo french terry did not disappoint!

I requested the forest green. Green is my favorite color!  The forest green is already sold out, but there are many other great colors available HERE!

I knew before I even got it, what I wanted to make. I wanted the George & Ginger Romy Set in this luscious fabric.

The Romy gathered bolero is the perfect little  sweater for winter. It is so warm in  cozy in this fabric! The Romy has been on my sewing list since I made a few in testing in January. 

Underneath the bolero top is the Romy tank in the flared version. The bamboo french terry has such a nice, soft drape that is perfect for this flared tank, and for the gathers on  the bolero.

Ellie & Mac To the Point Tunic

It's Wacky Wednesday at Ellie & Mac! This week I'm sharing the To the Point Tunic & Dress.

I've made this pattern before with lightweight knits.  I made this To the Point Tunic with a sweater knit for the colder weather.

A front was coming in as I took photos so my hair is a bit wild and my top was blowing all over.

It is so cozy in a sweater knit!

I really love the tunic length as it looks great with skinny jeans or leggings.

I used the same sweater knit that I used for an Itch to Stitch Cape Cod Capelet and think they look really cute together.

Itch to Stitch Cape Cod Capelet

It's November! How is it November already? Not only that, but the time change thanks to daylight saving time has my inner clock all out of whack. November means that the weather is finally cooling down here in Texas and Itch to Stitch has released the perfect pattern for this seasonal transition. I present to you - the Cape Cod Capelet! I promise, it's the pattern you never knew you needed.

Where I live the temperature can swing dramatically in a short amount of time. It is also very temperate with few days where I need a heavy coat. The Cape Cod Capelet is perfect for throwing on to keep me cozy for a stroll around the lake.

It would also be great to wear over a tank top or short sleeve top for a bit of added comfort and to transition those pieces into the cooler weather.  Sweater knits, french terry, really any medium weight knits with a bit of drape  are perfect for the Cape Cod Capelet. I made this one with a Hacci Sweater Knit.

I'm wearing my Cape Cod Capelet with a long sleeved tee and my Mountainview Pull-on Jeans.

Of course, I made more than one Cape Cod Capelet. I used a looser weave sweater knit for this one.

It is so soft and comfortable that I just want to live in it. The Cape Cod Capelet  has a longer back. The front piece in the pattern has been  lengthened by 2 inches in the final pattern. I am  5' tall and did not remove any length for my height.

I also made a Cape Cod Capelet in a light grey melange hacci sweater knit.

My thoughts were that this one would be a nice neutral color that could go with a lot of my tops.

The Cape Cod Capelet really makes me look pulled together. After all, I'm just wearing a black tee and jeans.

I definitely will be making another Cape Cod Capelet or maybe a few more.  I'm thinking a black one for sure.

5 out of 4 Annabeth Top & Tunic Sweatshirt

I know there are a million raglan style shirt patterns  out there. But most are not designed to give you  that relaxed fit you get from a good old sweatshirt that has very little stretch. The new Annabeth from 5 out of 4 gives you just that! It's designed to be used with thicker fabrics with very little stretch. The fit is relaxed without looking sloppy.

I made this Annabeth with a thick french terry solid from Wherehouse fabrics and a reverse french terry from Little Roots. Both of these fabrics only had 10% stretch horizontally and none vertically.

This top is so comfortable! I just want to live in it right now as the colder weather has finally settled into north Texas.

I made the shirt length. This was my first one to make in testing and I had removed 2 inches from the length. The next version that came out was made slightly shorter, so my tops are slightly longer than  intended.

Fabric choice really affects the fit of the Annabeth. For my second one, I grabbed some french terry that was thinner and had a bit more stretch. This french terry had between  15% and 20% stretch both horizontally and vertically. As you can see, this one hangs a little longer. This one looks more like the tunic version of the Annabeth even though I made it using the same exact pattern pieces as the one above.

I also messed up the sleeves - a little bit. The sleeves have two cut lines, one for hemmed and one for banded.  I wanted banded - as I was feeling lazy and didn't want to get my coverstitch out, but I cut the sleeves at the hemmed line.

When I realized this, I took the cuffs off and cut off the end of the sleeve and reattached the cuffs. I apparently did not cut enough off and my sleeves look really long. Or maybe I can blame the fabric for this too.

Either way,  I really love how comfortable and cozy this Annabeth  is and will be wearing it a bunch. Since making it I've worn it a few times. I love it with my jeans and it looks great with joggers and leggings.
