I used the Yellow Funhouse coordinate and Red Astley Girls to make a modified Halla Patterns Elise Top & Dress.
I used the puff sleeves and did the neckline straps. This seemed like the perfect combination to make an Astley Circus Girl inspired top.
The Astley Girls make for a striking stripe design. The stripes do run parallel with the fabric selvedge. Shown here is the brushed poly. This fabric has great 4-way stretch and you could also make the Astley Girl stripes go horizontally.
On my Elise Top, I decided to use a full circle skirt to make it a little more dramatic.
This was my first time making the Elise. I absolutely love how it turned out and will definitely be making more!
I also got some Astley Girls in white on cotton lycra.
As soon as I saw these, I knew I had to pair them with these black & white stripes from Made Whimsy.
I also knew I had to make a George & Ginger Swagger Sweater for its dramatic back. I made this one sleeveless just because I was low on fabric, I am in Texas, and we are having a heat wave.
I only had a fat half of the White Astley Girls, so I had to use the fabric the "wrong" way to get my pieces to fit. I personally think I prefer the Astley Girls running horizontally.
I just had to do some photos spinning around to show off the fun ruffles on the Swagger Sweater. The red layer is the Red cotton lycra from Made Whimsy - also used for the bands. The Swagger Sweater is only $5 and was recently updated.
