Bow Button Fabrics Neon Yellow Ribbed Poly Rayon Spandex

Never in my life did I think I would want to be wearing neon yellow at the age of 43. However, I sew this fabric from Bow Button Fabrics and knew I needed it for some workout tops. Neon colors are actually very popular again and I have a few pairs of workout tights that have pops of neon in them that I knew this would look great with them.

So a while back I made these Greenstyle Creations Stride Tights with fabric from Greenstyle called Highlighter Explosion. They have neon color splashes all over them. The neon yellow is hard to see on the Strides outside.

I first wanted to make the Greenstyle Studio to Street Top. I have made two of these and find that I wear them all the time. The short sleeve version with a v-neck and crew back I can make with just 1 yard of fabric!  In the photo below you can see my neon yellow reverse coverstitch that I did on my Strides. It matches my neon yellow top perfectly.

The Studio to Street Top has so many options. I love the relaxed fit and the high low hem. I keep saying that I am going to make the deep v-back version, but keep chickening out. It looks complicated. Maybe I'll finally tackle it during i-sew-lation.

I was thinking that I might only wear this top when working out, but I'm thinking it  might be really cute with jeans too. The bright color just makes me smile. Maybe as I walk through my neighborhood to get some fresh air and exercise while sew-cial distancing, it will bring a smile to someone  else.

Since I got two yards of this Neon Yellow ribbed knit, I also wanted to make a loose fitting tank. This fabric feels amazing. It is a bit on the thinner side. It has horizontal stretch only. And it has decent stretch and recovery, but as it is a ribbed knit, I cut bands slightly shorter than the pattern called on both makes.

I used the Sinclair Patterns Shelby Tunic for my tank. I love this pattern and find it very versatile. I did cut this one so that the back piece had a bit more swing to it. You'll see why later.

I probably have 20 or more Shelby tunics in my closet. I wear them all the time. For working out or even as office wear. They are great for layering in the winter and I have some that I wear as pajamas.

I love the length as it covers my booty and the fullness hides my jiggly belly too. Since Sinclair Patterns offers all their patterns in petite, regular, and tall, I can make the petite version without any adjustments in length!

However, when I do yoga, I don't like a loose fit top. So I tie it on the side when I do yoga. I add a little bit of extra ease to the bottom hem to make it easier to do this.

It can still keep me covered and I can do a downward facing dog without flashing anyone.

This polyester rayon spandex ribbed knit comes in a variety of neon and regular colors and even a few stripes. Find all the ribbed knits available at Bow Button Fabrics HERE.

Greenstyle Elevate Crop Top and Overlay with Inspire Tights

Each month Greenstyle Creations puts 3 patterns on sale. This month includes the Elevate Crop Top & Overlay and the Inspire Tights. I had to make both for a full outfit.

First - let me tell you about the Inspire Tights. They have a few different options in them. One option is for inserts in the upper leg in the front and back.

I decided that one set of inserts was not enough to show off this cool yellow mesh from Zenith & Quasar, so I made a second set of inserts on the lower leg as well. I used the upper insert as a template to cut the lower one from the pattern. I just estimated where I wanted it and cut the front and back legs at the same time to make sure they would line up. This is the front leg piece with both inserts.

All fabrics that I used came from Zenith & Quasar. The print on my Inspires is Venus Flytraps on Yoga Swim Spandex (YSS). The YSS is my favorite for athletic tights. I find that I grab these more than my others.

I made the Elevate Overlay "sleeveless" but since it has a drop shoulder, it's more like a cap sleeve. I made mine with the light weight athletic brushed poly in Neon Pink.

This is the back of the Elevate Crop Top and Overlay. I made the racer back crop top and the crossover back overlay with the strap. I made the crop top with gold colored supplex. Also seen in this photo is the top of my under wear. After trying the Inspire Tights on I quickly realized that I need to add about 1 to 1.5" to the back rise to account for my booty.

I still feel cute in my new workout wear. I do think I'm going to tack the back overlay together so that it doesn't gape open as much. I did not remove any length for my height and think if I had removed an inch from the length it probably wouldn't gape so much.

Here is the Elevate Crop Top on it's own. It's intended to be worn over a sports bra. I just wore a regular racer back bra under it for photos. It has this cute overlapping band in the front. I will not be wearing the crop top without the overlay to the gym - or anywhere for that matter.

There are many more options on both the Inspire Tights and the Elevate  Crop Top that I did not show or discuss. Both patterns are currently 15% off through the end of March and make great additions to your workout wardrobe.
