If you haven't tried a EYMM pattern before, this is the perfect time to given one a try.

I made the Kymy Dolman top. Actually - I made two! I made View A which is a hi-lo hem and View B which is the basic, but I made mine long sleeved for fall.



For View A, I used fabric I purchased from Zenith and Quasar Fabric. This is the Jellyfish print from their third round. Retail for this fabric is available at Jellyfish Poly Knit. Zenith and Quasar prints on USA made poly/spandex blend fabric that is also printed in the USA. It has a soft brushed finish and makes for great clothing.

Here are my printed instructions and pattern before I started. I always check the 1" square before I begin.

After I taped my pattern together, I traced my pieces onto Swedish tracing paper. Then used my traced pattern pieces to cut my fabric. This pattern is so easy and quick - just 2 pieces.

I was surprised that after cutting out my pieces the first step was to iron my hems. I'd never ironed my hems before sewing, but that's what I did. However, a polyblend doesn't hold the crease as well as a cotton blend. But it held pretty good.

Then I laid the 2 pieces on top of each other right sides together. Can you see the crease for my hem?

Then I serged the shoulders and sides.

Next was the hem. I have to admit, having the crease to show where to hem was GREAT! So I hemmed the neckline, sleeves, and the bottom hem with my coverstitch.

Then I put it on my mannequin and admired my top.

After I made View A - I knew I had to make another. So I decided to go with the View B and decided to try and make it with long sleeves.

The fabric I used for View B is from Riki Prints. This print is Bohemian Rhapsody from their Acceptable in the 80's round. Retail is still available at Bohemian Rhapsody. Riki Prints uses a cotton Lycra blend to print their fabrics. It is a nice weight and so very soft. Riki Prints is also a prize sponsor for the EYMM anniversary blog tour. First I laid my front pattern piece onto my fabric when it was folded in half.  When I cut my pattern out, I left the excess tracing paper on it so I could add to it. Then I placed a sheet of paper under the sleeve and drew a sleeve that extended from the pattern piece. I then measured the length from the pattern sleeve to the end of the new sleeve. This way I would know how to place this paper piece on the back piece to make sure they matched.

Then I cut out my front piece and then cut out my back piece. Here they are.

Now to iron the hems.

Placed the two pieces right sides together. Yay! Everything matched up!

Then I serged the seams.

Looking good.

Now to hem. I had the turquoise thread in my coverstitch from the View A jellyfish top, and I decided to keep the turquoise for this one too. I thought it would bring out the turquoise and give it a pop.

I think I need to make a few more of these. It's so comfortable, plus it's quick and easy. I can easily make one in an evening after work.
