George + Ginger Romy

Kristi of George + Ginger recently asked her group of testers for design ideas for a final winter pattern. Several testers (myself included) posted images of a bolero with an overlapping front and gathers. I'm so happy to say she made a version that I absolutely love and designed an amazing tank to wear under it. This is the Romy!

But first, I want to talk about the Romy tank. This tank has a flowy option (shown here) and a fitted option. In addition, the tank also has a dress length.

I made this Romy tank with a satin sheen knit that I just love. It's so fun and different.

I

The v neck on the Romy is a little low, but not too low. I don't flash anyone if I lean over.

The Romy wrap bolero is the perfect laying piece for transitioning from winter to spring. There are two style options for the bolero. This is the gathered lined version. You can also make it unlined with a banded bottom. I'll show you the other style further down.

I made this Romy bolero with a sequined knit I got at Hancock Fabrics when they were closing. I never knew what to do with it. I think it was just perfect for the Romy!

The Romy bolero has cup sizes to give the perfect fit. If you select too small of a cup size, the bolero will sit above the breasts, and in the gathered style, it will not look right.

I should also note that for the sizing of the Romy bolero, you will want to go by your over bust measurement and not full bust.

I see many Romy tanks in my future. I absolutely love the fit of the flowy tank. For my 5' height I removed 1" from the length.

I made this Romy tank with fabric from Zenith & Qasar. This is the Hubble collage print and it is currently at preorder.

The second bolero style for the Romy is the simple bolero.

This bolero style sits above the bust and allows the v neck to peek out. I think it's super cute and a little sexy.

The Romy bolero has three sleeve lengths, short (shown here), 3/4 length (shown above), and long sleeve.

I made this Romy with sweater knit and it's perfect for spring.

I am seriously obsessed with the Romy and made another after I took the photos above.

I made this Romy with liverpool.

I made this one to wear to work. I think it will be super cute with some black slacks.

Does anyone recognize this fabric? I made a G + G Picnic Dress with it a few years ago.

As I write this blog post, I have another Romy bolero cut out and waiting to be sewn in my sewing room. I'll be sure to share it very soon. I have a so many more planned.

The Romy is on sale for 25% off through Friday - February 8th.
