“Out of Farm’s Way” + The Charlotte Quilt: A Modern Farmyard Delight

If bold color, barnyard charm, and playful energy are your thing, this quilt is bound to bring a smile. I recently paired the Out of Farm’s Way collection by Anne Gregory for Blank Quilting Company with The Charlotte Quilt pattern from Kitchen Table Quilting, and the result is bursting with life—just like a bustling summer day on the farm.

This collection is pure joy. You’ll find cheerful chickens, fresh corn, cows peeking through fence posts, fields of flowers, and charming rural vignettes—all brought to life in a colorful, painterly style. I especially love how the crisp orange solid I used as the accent color makes each print pop and adds structure to the quilt’s layout.

I chose a playful allover quilting motif to mirror the whimsy of the prints, adding a gentle, swirling texture that ties it all together. The finished quilt is bright, cozy, and full of character—a perfect gift for a farm-lover or a bold accent in a country-inspired space.

The Charlotte Quilt pattern is ideal for showcasing busy prints like these. Its clean, diagonal block design gives the eye space to rest while still celebrating every fabric. Each square feels like a tiny window into life on the farm—whether it’s a row of roosters, a garden bursting with veggies, or a peaceful grassy patch.

Sometimes, the best quilts are the ones that don’t take themselves too seriously. This one is a reminder to keep it fun, colorful, and full of personality.
