Ellie & Mac Fireside Top

It's Wacky Wednesday at Ellie & Mac! That means there are 6 fabulous patterns on sale for only $1!

This week include the Fireside Top and the Cold Shoulder Top. You can read my blog on the Cold Shoulder Top HERE!

This week, I want to show you the Fireside Top that I made.

What makes the Fireside Top stand out from other tops, is the low back with a shoulder strap. The Fireside Top is perfect for layering over a bralette or tank, or bare your back. The back scoop ends just above my bra. I used a really slinky sweater knit that also gew as I sewed it. If you use a more stable knit, the scoop will be higher. I also goofed and cut my back piece on the fold - so my back piece is wider than intended.

The Fireside Top is a relaxed dolman sleeve top. The front has a v-neck that is very flattering.

I love that the Fireside Top has side vents. You could make the Fireside Top without them, but I think they add a bit of style and it's an element you see frequently in ready to wear fashion. Side vents are one of those details that might take a bit of extra time, but they are worth it.

I really love the relaxed fit. It makes the Fireside Top perfect to wear with skinny jeans or leggings.

I did not remove length from the Fireside Top for my 5' height. If you like this length, you might want to add an inch or two depending on your height. I love slouchy tops like this to cover my behind so I can lounge in them with leggings.

One adjustment I made to the Fireside Top, was to slim the sleeves down. I think I might have made these sleeves more snug than I intended, but I'm liking them fitted. I found the pattern piece for the sleeves to give a finished width of 11" which was very loose and wide on my arms. I need to figure out the right width for me before I make another Fireside Top.

The Fireside Top and 5 other patterns are on sale for one dollar through midnight on October 3, 2018. Find all the Wacky Wednesday deals HERE! In addition, the entire sop is on sale for 40% off! Prices are already marked down.
