George + Ginger Pattern Company Posh Top

I first made a Posh Top from George + Ginger about this time last year. I only remember because it was forecasted to snow and I made a Posh Top with snowflake printed fabric.

 Thankfully this time there isn't any snow in our forecast. But I had put the Posh Top on my sewing list at the beginning of the month. I'm just now getting around to blogging about it and getting photos.

I used a cotton lycra for this Posh Top. It has a feather and leaf design on it that I think transitions great from winter to spring.

I modified my Posh Top to be a simple turtleneck. The pattern calls for a separate piece on the shoulders with a cute faux button detail. I really love the details in the Posh Top, but I just wanted a plain solid front for this one.

I cut my front piece out with the shoulder pieces overlapping at the seam allowance on the front bodice piece to create a solid front.

I just love the sleeves on the Posh Top and think it gives it a sophisticated look.

The Posh Top is a great piece for a winter wardrobe and can be made with a variety of fabrics. I'm thinking I need one in velvet and another in a sweater knit. The Posh Top is on sale for the month of January. Winter will be here awhile longer. Plenty of time to make a few to enjoy during the cold weather.

Halla Patterns Stella Sweater Upcycle

I love the Halla Patterns Stella Pullover and have made so many of them. I went through my closet recently and took out a bunch of sweaters that either no longer fit me or had moth holes in them. I always like to see what I can salvage from sweaters before I put them in a bin to be recycled. I took this coral sweater that is a wool blend that I accidentally shrunk in the washer & dryer, and cut it apart to use on a Stella Pullover.

One of my favorite features of the Stella are the pockets. I love having pockets and these are a great size. I normally add a bottom band to my Stella Pullovers and completely forgot to add one to this top. I haven't decided if I want to seam rip the hem and add one or not.

This length is with 2" removed for my height. I don't think this length as-is is necessarily bad, I'm just used to having a little bit more length.

I used a cotton lycra from Kaynen called Dodo that is a European import I purchased about 3 years ago. I have another sweater upcycle that I used this same fabric on a few years ago.

What I had loved about this sweater was the cute button detail on the collar and sleeves. I was able to keep both and think my upcycle turned out perfect.

I still have the body of the sweater that I'm considering using on another top or using it to add a bottom band to this top. I also have 5 more sweaters that I plan on upcycling too.

Halla Patterns Mirra Raglan

Halla Patterns has a new pattern out and it's the Mirra Raglan with a ton of options!

In testing I made the plainest Mirra Raglan possible. No pockets or other fun features.

But I did use fun fabric! How cute are these kitties in boxes?

The Mirra Raglan is a semi fitted top. I tend to prefer a slightly looser fit to help hide by belly. I already have plans to make a few Mirra Raglans with the cowl and making them about 2 sizes bigger for a slouchy fit.

I love the neckline on the Mirra Raglan. It's got a boatneck like shape that I really love.

When I cut out the Mirra Raglan, I forgot to take length out for my height and ended up cutting 3" off the bottom before I hemmed it.

George + Ginger Dresses 40% Off TODAY!

George + Ginger is celebrating their 3 year anniversary this week with a sale every day! Today's sale is 40% off Dresses. As you may know from reading my blog, I am not a fan of dresses. However, many dress patterns have a tunic or top version as well - and those I love.

First I want to tell you about the RuLo. It has so many options and I love the tunic and top versions so much. I probably have a dozen different RuLo's in my closet. There are a few options I haven't even made yet!

This RuLo is the dolman sleeve version in a reverse french terry. I get so many compliments every time I wear this one. It's one of my favorite cozy, slouchy tops to wear in the fall and winter. When it's really cold I wear it over a light tan colored turtleneck and it's so cute over a turtleneck.

SoTa - This pattern is so fun! It looks complicated, but it's actually a pretty fast sew. It takes longer to cut out all the pieces than it does to actually sew it.

The Picnic Dress. I made this green version in a french terry during testing. I wear this over leggings often.

I made this Picnic Dress in liverpool during testing - I also wear this one over leggings often.

But my favorite Picnic Dress is this velvet maxi length version I made. I wear this one on every cruise I go on for formal night. The pattern does not come with a maxi length skirt, but it's super easy to add length to it.
