Ellie & Mac Vacation Romper

It's Wacky Wednesday at Ellie & Mac. This week I'm sharing the Vacation Romper with you. The Vacation Romper is not a pattern I would have ever thought to try. After seeing several that were really cute on a few sewists that are similar to my shape, I decided to give it a try.

I noticed that all the ones I liked on others were made with an ITY knit. So that's what I used for mine. It has the perfect drape to keep the Vacation Romper from looking like it's swallowing me.

The Vacation Romper is so comfortable! I took 4" out of the length from the middle of the pattern for my height. I think I could have removed at least 2 or 3 more inches.

What I really love is that I can wear a normal bra with it and my straps do not show! This isn't likely something that I will wear a whole lot, but I definitely see myself wearing this often as a swimsuit cover-up this summer.

The Vacation Romper goes together really quick. It's one big pattern piece that you cut 2 of and you have the straps to cut. Hemming the legs is optional and with most knits it looks perfectly fine with a raw hem. The part that took the most time was doing the binding.

Another pattern that I have made that's included in this weeks Wacky Wednesday Sale is the High Hopes Dolman. Here's a photo of me in it. Read my blog post about it HERE.

All Wacky Wednesday Patterns are on sale for $1 each through Midnight on May 29th. Check out all the patterns at https://www.ellieandmac.com/collections/wacky-free-patterns

Ellie & Mac Be Dreamy Dress

It's Wacky Wednesday at Ellie & Mac! This week I'm sharing with you the Be Dreamy Dress. I know you've seen me mention my dislike for dresses, but I do love maxi dresses. I just don't like showing my legs.

The Be Dreamy Dress has an optional high-low hemline and two sleeve flounce lengths. I made the regular hemline and used the shorter sleeve flounce.

My fabric is an interlock twist yarn (ITY) knit that I bought from Super Textiles in the Dallas Fabric District. I was drawn to the bold, large scale border print. However, I did not buy enough!

I did not have enough fabric to fussy cut the back skirt piece. I ended up cutting my back skirt out a bit differently and gathered it at the waist. I really love how it came out and think I'll make my next one in a similar manner.

The Be Dreamy Dress also includes optional pockets, but I opted to leave them out. I love the drape of the flounce sleeves and think I will try the longer length on my next dress.

I love the empire waist - it's very flattering. My ITY did not have any vertical stretch and my neckline ended up quite high, but I love it. The photos in the listing for the Be Dreamy Dress show a lower neckline.

I feel beautiful in my Be Dreamy Dress and think the fussy cutting of my fabric is what really made this dress perfect for me. I just wish the back of my dress could have been as beautiful as the front.

The Be Dreamy Dress is on sale for only $1 through May 15th. See all the Wacky Wednesday Sale patterns HERE! All other patterns are currently on sale for 50% off - no code needed.

Ellie and Mac Women's Shark Bite Top

I love Wacky Wednesdays at Ellie and Mac! There is always a great selection of patterns that are marked down to only $1 for Wednesday only. This week, the Women's Shark Bite Top is part of the Wacky Wednesday Sale!

The Shark Bite Top is awesome! I love the hemline - it adds interest and a bit of flair!

I made this one with an ITY (interlock twist yarn) knit that I got from Wherehouse Fabrics.

I'm 5' tall and made the pattern as drafted. This length is great on me for wearing the Shark Bite Top with leggings or with my Designer Stitch Shakti pants in these photos. As you can see below - it covers my behind. If you are taller than me and you want the same coverage, you might need to lengthen the pattern a little bit.

I love the loose fit of the Shark Bite Top. I've been having issues with autoimmune gastritis that causes my upper abdomen to swell a lot. The fit of the Shark Bite Top helps to disguise this issue. In the photo below, my stomach is swollen and sticks out past my bust, but you can't really tell that in this top.

This top comes with a couple of options. I made the non-colorblocked version. I'm anxious to try the colorblocked version. I've seen some really cute version  of the Shark Bite Top that have a solid body and print colorblocked sides.

The Shark Bite Top can be made sleeveless, short sleeves, or with 3/4 length sleeves. I've made a ton of sleeveless shirts recently, so I decided to make this top short sleeved. I love the length of these sleeves.

The Shark Bite Top takes 2 yards of fabric to make a version like mine in size large. The colorblocked version is great for using about 1 yard of 2 different fabrics.

If the Shark Bite Top isn't your style, be sure to check out all the other patterns for $1 in the Wacky Wednesday Sale.
