Itch to Stitch Summer Classics

Summer in Texas is HOT! However, I work in an office building that is always freezing cold. My favorite pieces for office attire are from Itch to Stitch. They are classy looking and many lend themselves well to layering under a cardigan. I thought I'd round up a few favorites to share in case you need some summer fashion inspiration.

First off the Chai Shirt. I wear this swiss dot sleeveless Chai Shirt frequently during the summer.

I wouldn't wear swiss dot any other time of year and this one looks great with jeans or when I wear it to work with navy pants and a navy cardigan.

I have made a few Chirripo's and have yet to make the version with the flounce sleeves. I love the Chirripo sleeveless. I often wear this particular one with these blue pants and a blue shrug to work.

The wide shoulder straps keep my bra straps covered at all times.

This Isidro Top is one of my favorite items in my closet. I think the Venus Fly Trap print is so fun and unique. I wear it frequently to work with these blue pants. I also have hot pink pants that I also wear with it.

These sleeves can be a bit more challenging with a cardigan, but I have a few with dolman sleeves that work great with it.

The Beausoleil is such a fun top. I love the cold shoulder cutouts. I have made a few of theses and this one is my favorite.

I always wear white pants with this Beausoleil and take a white cardigan with me when wearing it to work.

I rarely wear my Plitvice all on it's own. It looks great under a jacket for office attire.

Only reason I don't wear this one all on it's own as I made it with a clingy fabric and feel like it shows every roll. I really need to make another in a thicker, less clingy knit as this top is so comfortable and like I said - looks amazing when  layered.

Since summer lasts well into September here in Texas, I still have some summer sewing to do. More Itch to Stitch patterns are on my sewing summer list.

Zenith & Quasar Butterflies

I have already shown this top before, but now that this Butterfly print is at Preorder at Zenith & Quasar, I decided to show it off again.

I used the Sinclair Patterns Shelby Tunic. It's one of my favorite patterns. I love that it comes in petite sizing and that it's a loose fit and covers my behind.

These Butterflies are just gorgeous and I love the subtle watercolor background. My Grandmother loved butterflies and I think of her everytime I wear this top.

I love the athletic brushed poly from Zenith & Quasar. It's the perfect fabric year round, but I love how it keeps me cool & dry in the Texas heat. It wicks away moisture so fast leaving me dry and cool.

The preorder also has Yoga Swim Spandex (YSS) as an option and I love it as well. The preorder closes on June 29th! See all the prints at preorder at https://www.zenithandquasar.com/product-category/preorder-r34-reprints/

Ellie & Mac Vacation Romper

It's Wacky Wednesday at Ellie & Mac. This week I'm sharing the Vacation Romper with you. The Vacation Romper is not a pattern I would have ever thought to try. After seeing several that were really cute on a few sewists that are similar to my shape, I decided to give it a try.

I noticed that all the ones I liked on others were made with an ITY knit. So that's what I used for mine. It has the perfect drape to keep the Vacation Romper from looking like it's swallowing me.

The Vacation Romper is so comfortable! I took 4" out of the length from the middle of the pattern for my height. I think I could have removed at least 2 or 3 more inches.

What I really love is that I can wear a normal bra with it and my straps do not show! This isn't likely something that I will wear a whole lot, but I definitely see myself wearing this often as a swimsuit cover-up this summer.

The Vacation Romper goes together really quick. It's one big pattern piece that you cut 2 of and you have the straps to cut. Hemming the legs is optional and with most knits it looks perfectly fine with a raw hem. The part that took the most time was doing the binding.

Another pattern that I have made that's included in this weeks Wacky Wednesday Sale is the High Hopes Dolman. Here's a photo of me in it. Read my blog post about it HERE.

All Wacky Wednesday Patterns are on sale for $1 each through Midnight on May 29th. Check out all the patterns at https://www.ellieandmac.com/collections/wacky-free-patterns

Sew Big Fabrics Fruit Splash!

The Sew Big Fabrics Fruit Splash Round is full of fun fruit themed prints. All prints are available on a variety of bases. My favorite base is the Bamboo Lycra. When I saw the Monochrome Pineapple Purple Gradient print, I knew I needed to make a maxi dress with it.

I may not wear many dresses, but I do love a maxi dress. They are so comfortable to wear and they keep my legs hidden.

I used the leaf bodice and full back from the George + Ginger Mix It Up Dress for my maxi dress. I love bamboo lycra, but bamboo does not have the best recovery so I lined my bodice with athletic brushed poly. This will help prevent the bodice from sagging as I wear it over the course of the day.

I then just added a gathered skirt to it that was the appropriate length for my height.

This Pineapple Print is so fun and tropical. It makes me want to go on a beach vacation ASAP. The Bamboo fabric will help keep me cool no matter how hot & humid it is. Perfect for the beach.

Here's a closer look at the Pineapple print. The pineapples are done in a geometric design and look so cool on top of the purple gradient.

I really love the leaf bodice, but do find that it is a little low cut on me.

The Fruit Splash Round is open through May 6th. Here's a look at a few of the other fun prints at preorder.
